2010 Winter Olympics Now On!
It is such a great time to be in Canada right now! The Vancouver 2010 winter olympics just started and the opening ceremony was spectacular! I love love loved the light plays and the fiddlers in particular. Such incredible artistic talents. (You can find some pictures here.)
The deep nationalistic spirit of Canadians is contagious.
Go Canada!

Din, vancouver is about 2.5 hours from Victoria by ferry. Quite near. some of my colleagues at work are there now. The nationalistic spirit of Canadians is pretty high..and is contagious (what with more than a year of olympics marketing on top of it and the all powerful "we, canadians, living our dreams" & "this is our moment" themes). Chris laughed at me tonight as I teared up after watching Alexander Biloteau win the first gold medal for Canada on skiing (and the first ever to win gold on olympics games held in Canada since 1976). To add to the drama, he has a brother with cerebral palsy who is his inspiration. All these were shown on tv before his historical run. Chris laughed and told me, I am officially "Canadian" for crying (along with many Canadians) when Alex won his gold tonight and I don't need a citizenship to prove it. :) So we consider today, as the official day that I become Canadian, in the ideal sense of the word. :)
