A robin in a tree

This is one image I wouldn't see back in the tropics. For one, I don't think we have robins back home, and if we did, we would have had a hard time seeing them as it is very rare to see trees without leaves, unless there has been a fire or typhoon (for which I won't be taking pictures of birds and would most probably be scrambling for clean water to drink, cook or bathe in). So this picture, taken in one of our afternoon walks here, is quite "exotic" for me. It is strange to see a robin that much exposed among a flurry of bare tree branches...feels like I am seeing something I shouldn't be seeing.

Life is Not Without Tragedies

The beetle fell in love with the seaweed.
He wanted to be around her all the time.
He drowned.

Cat Necklace

I made Julia a cat stuff toy last weekend. It was a bit big to fit in her pocket so I added a ribbon for her to wear around her neck. We call her Mimi, the swinging cat. I must admit, it's quite amusing to see people smile when they see Julia with Mimi the swinging cat. Now she's asking for a bird.

Birdman

I saw you at the parking lot
with a bag of seeds strapped on your waist,
It was raining, but you do not mind
you were enjoying your time

The crows gathered at your feet
like humble servants they wait,
not so patiently though as they twitched and hopped
occassionally bowing to their king

Sometimes I see you ride my bus
you were always alone,
Head bowed and not looking,
you were in an island of your own

One time as we began to board
I watched your back and was startled
when you turned around and waved
your face so changed and ardent

I had to look at where you're waving,
I have to know
who could be that very person
who could make you glow

But as I turned to see
I saw noone there at all
Not a single person
not a single soul

Then I realized my error
my gaze was not in line
So I looked up and finally saw
a baby seagull perched on the parking sign.

Dallas Clayton

I stumbled upon this site a week ago and couldn't keep myself from returning to it everyday. His poems make me see and think about things differently. He clearly has a unique and lovely mind. (I like his book too.)

A Family of Cats

Julia loves her kitty cat stuff toy so much.
I think this is how we would have looked like if we had been a family of cats.
